WMF Technical Forum 2025 Review: Part 1

The World Money Fair (WMF) is the world’s largest coin fair. This year’s event, held 30 January to 1 February, attracted more numismatics enthusiasts than ever before – with over 13,600 attendees and more than 300 exhibitors from 50 countries present. WMF Director, Goetz-Ulf-Jungmichel, commented that the event ‘shows that our industry is not only preserving history, but actively shaping the future’.

The 21st iteration of the WMF Technical Forum took place as typically scheduled, the day before the main WMF officially opened. Led by organisers and founding directors Dieter Merkle (Schuler) and Thomas Hogenkamp (Spaleck), this year’s Forum welcomed nearly 300 attendees.

Experts, technology providers, and trade visitors came together to discuss the latest technological developments in coins and numismatics. The coin industry, like many other sectors, has been going through a period of significant change and is increasingly adapting and being revolutionised by innovative, technically superior processes, which not only allow increased efficiency but also the production of attractive new products.
