Earlier this month, the Mint Directors Association (MDA) Sustainability Subcommittee hosted a webinar focusing on circularity in the minting industry. Sponsored by Hitachi Solutions, it brought together three industry practitioners to share real-world examples of circular economy principles applied to the minting industry.

Casa da Moeda do Brasil – Pathway to Circularity

Casa da Moeda do Brasil’s ESG Manager, Nathalia Salas Rubiallo de Barros, opened the presentations by detailing how it has embedded circularity across multiple production streams. As an ESG manager, Nathalia acknowledged that applying circular economy principles to industrial activities is challenging but achievable.

Once Casa da Moeda recognised the economic value of circularity, it began redesigning processes at every stage of production to embed a circular mindset and build an internal culture of circularity.
