Celebrating Belgian Street Art

The Royal Mint of Belgium has issued a €2.5 commemorative coin celebrating the country’s street art. Produced by the Royal Dutch Mint, the coin is accompanied by NFTs (non-fungible tokens), with several designs featuring the work of Belgian street artists.

Mintage has been limited to 10,000 coins in coincards. Street artist Bue the Warrior designed both the coin and its packaging, in addition to the accompanying NFT.

As street art in Belgium has very diverse manifestations, stated the Mint, more works by renowned Belgian street artists have been added to the coincard as a free NFT. The artworks have never been published and will be owned for free by the buyers of the physical collectible.

Artists include Bue the Warrior (‘Buddies/ Copains’), LS (‘Patterns of Time/Motifs du temps’), LobsterRobin (‘Monkey See, Monkey Demon/Le singe voit, le singe demon’), Resto (‘Only Grass can save us/ Seule l’herbe peut nous sauver’), and Toys (‘Punk not Dead/Punk pas Mort’). 2,000 of each of the five designs have been produced to accompany the coin – 1,000 in French and 1,000 in Dutch.
