RDM Commemorates Several Anniversaries
Celebrating 75 Years of NATO
The Royal Dutch Mint, in collaboration with the Royal Belgian Mint, has released a new limited issue silver €10 coin to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Founded on the basis of the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty signed in Washington DC in April 1949, NATO is an international and intergovernmental organisation that works for the joint defence of its member states and allies. NATO HQ – both political and administrative – has been based in Brussels since 1967, with military headquarters based 80km south of the capital city.
The reverse image side of the coin depicts the NATO emblem in the centre, projected of a globe that is comprised of several dots – intended to emphasise the intergovernmental aspect of the organisation. Abbreviations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and ’75 Years’ are inscribed in English, Dutch and French around the outside of the central image. Mintage has been limited to 3,000 numbered copies, which are issued with a a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
