Paris Olympic and Paralympic Medals Unveiled

The Paris 2024 Organising Committee has unveiled the medals for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Monnaie de Paris has been charged with production of the medals, exactly a century after the previous Parisian Games in 1924.

Designed by French luxury jewellery brand Chaumet, each of the gold, silver, and bronze awards will feature an original part of the Eiffel Tower, with an 1889 iron hexagon that was once part of the iconic landmark placed in the centre of the medal. The hexagon is a nod to France’s geometric shape, intended to symbolise the mobilisation of the entire country in hosting the Games – with the emblem of the Paris 2024 Games embossed on the front. Six small clasps hold the iron pieces to the medal, a nod to the rivets on the Tower itself.
