COTY Award Winners Announced
The Coin of the Year (COTY) Awards have been held every year since 1984, with a panel of judges nominating ten coins in each of the ten award categories. From there, another panel of international judges review the nominees and select the category winners.
The winners of the 39th edition of the annual COTY Awards have been announced, with the main COTY category yet to be selected and presented from the category winners. The winners of each category are as follows:
Most Historically Significant Coin: The Royal Mint, silver 50p, ‘100 Years of Insulin’
Best Contemporary Event Coin: National Bank of Ukraine, silver 10 hryvnias, ‘The 25th Anniversary of the Ukrainian Constitution’
Best Gold Coin: United States Mint, gold $100, ‘American Liberty’
Best Silver Coin: Shenzhen Guobao Mint, silver 20 yuan, ‘Auspicious Culture – Swans’
Best Crown Coin: Royal Canadian Mint, silver $20, ‘Black and Gold – The Grey Wolf’
Best Circulating Coin: Royal Canadian Mint, 10 cents, ‘100th Anniversary of Bluenose’
Best Bi-Metallic Coin: Austrian Mint, silver niobium €25, ‘Smart Mobility’
Most Artistic Coin: National Bank of Ukraine, 5 hryvnias, ‘The 30th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence’
Most Innovative Coin: Austrian Mint, silver €20, ‘The Milky Way’
Most Inspirational Coin: Tokelau, silver $20, ‘The Next Evolution’.
