MDC 2023 Keynote Speaker Announced
Hosted by the Royal Canadian Mint and scheduled to take place 15-18 October in Ottawa, the Mint Directors Conference (MDC) has announced that the keynote speaker will be economist and former Governor of the Bank of Canada, Stephen Poloz.
Poloz is one of the world’s foremost economists with over 40 years of experience in economic and investment research, forecasting, banking, and policymaking, including the aforementioned seven years as Governor of the Bank of Canada. He is also the author of a book titled ‘The Next Age of Uncertainty: How the World Can Adapt to a Riskier Future’, that maps out the powerful economic forces that are shaping our future and the ideas that will allow us to master them.
His keynote address, ‘In an Ever-Changing World – What is Next’, will set the stage for the theme of the conference, Minting for the Future. He will apply a macro lens to the economic and financial landscape in an increasingly complex and uncertain world, and look at the forces behind it. The address will help prompt discussions on a wide range of topics, including post-pandemic business risks and opportunities; the importance of social inclusivity in a world of growing inequalities; the spread of digital technology; and the transition to net zero carbon emissions.
The full event programme is set to be announced shortly and will feature sessions on topics such as sustainability, social inclusion, cash and digital currency, numismatics and more.
Registration is now open and special early registration rates apply until 15 April. To find out more, or to register, visit canada.mintdirectorsconference.com.
