New Coins for Luxembourg Next Year

The Central Bank of Luxembourg has unveiled the designs of the country’s updated euro coins which feature HRH Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume on their national side. The new coins bearing the effigy of Grand Duke Guillaume – who acceded to the throne on 3 October – will enter circulation at the beginning of 2026.

The circulating coins have been designed by Chiara Principe, with the new national sides of the circulating coins featuring three different designs corresponding to the three groups of denominations: 1, 2, and 5 cents; 10, 20, and 50 cents; and €1 and €2. In accordance with tradition, the orientation of the monarch’s portrait changes with a new reign, so Grand Duke Guillaume is looking towards the left in the portrait depicted on the coins.
