Remarkable New Issues

Coin & Mint News™ continues its ‘Remarkable New Issues’ segment, in partnership with CoinsWeekly, by highlighting three new collectible issues with dynamic designs – and in the case of Austria, a colourful centrepiece.

The Austrian Mint’s bi-metallic coin series – featuring a silver outer ring and niobium centre with a different colour for each issue – has become a flagship design. This year’s release is the 22nd issue in the series, dedicated to the theme of digitalisation.

The Mint has chosen a colourful potpourri of elements to represent digital progress. The outer ring creates a juxtaposition by presenting technical devices that have become obsolete with the advent of digitalisation. Artificial intelligence is also represented in the centre of the reverse by the initials ‘KI’ – the German abbreviation for AI.
