To close the year, Coin & Mint News™ continues its ‘Remarkable New Issues’ segment in partnership with CoinsWeekly to highlight new collectible issues that are notable for one reason or another.

This month, we focus on the Monnaie de Paris’ Notre Dame series, Croatia’s latest Tsart Dragon coin, and the US Mint’s updated Flowing Hair Dollar minted in gold. 

Notre Dame de Paris 

More than five years after a catastrophic fire, Notre Dame Cathedral was reopened with great ceremony on 7 December. The Monnaie de Paris has dedicated a range of new commemorative coins to the cathedral, whose outstanding designs are a fitting tribute to this iconic landmark.

Tsart Dragon 

Croatia’s new version of the Tsart Dragon coin is a prime example of a growing trend; state issues are increasingly using elaborate minting technologies typically employed by private mints. Ultra-high relief, antique finish, and partial gilding are all features never before seen on Croatian coins, with an impressive result.
