Commemorating the 2024 Paris Games
During most Olympic and Paralympic Games, there have been a variety of products released to commemorate the occasion and celebrate the athletes taking part. The 2024 Paris Games are no different, and below we cover a selection of commemoratives minted to mark the event.
UK
The Royal Mint has produced a ‘good luck token’, with each competitor receiving one as part of their kit bags before the event – which is currently taking place in the French capital. Although TRM has produced coins honouring Team GB since 2012, the coin is the first time that both Team GB and ParalympicsGB have been celebrated on the same coin.
© The Royal Mint.Created by visual designer Charis Tsevis, the reverse features mosaic artwork depicting an athlete from both Team GB and ParalympicsGB, symbolising the shared goals of both teams. A silhouette of the Eiffel Tower is depicted at the bottom of the design, as a nod to the host city, whilst the Union Flag covers the background of the coin.
