Expanding Global Pathways for Coin Repatriation

In August 2024, Global Coin Solutions incorporated its first overseas subsidiary office in Tokyo. Nearly 18 months after the company’s expansion into the heart of Asia’s coin market, Coin & Mint News™ caught up with founder and President, Scott Hutchings, about its development, the complexities of global coin repatriation, and the growing social impact of its charitable initiatives.

Expansion in Asia

Following the incorporation of GCS Japan, the company rapidly realised that it would require greater capacity to deal with the processing of the various currencies being processed for repatriation. GCS initially negotiated a 50% expansion to its warehouse space, followed by a move to a dedicated facility, still based in Tokyo but fully renovated and configured to the company’s specifications. This further expanded floor space by 20%, inclusive of an office space at the sorting facility, all on one site.
